Start Early

Begin promoting your PNOs about three weeks out, even if you do them monthly.  Promotion means send out announcements through email, text message, put up your posters and bring it up and the end of each class.

Be Consistent

Consider having your event the same time every single month.  For example, on the 1st Friday of each Month, Parent’s Night Out is from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM.  When you get to the point that every PNO is full, create a 2nd event on a Saturday each month…maybe the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Sales Page to Check-Out Page

To be the most efficient, use a sale page or landing page the provides all the details BEFORE sending people to your check-out or ‘Profit Generator’ page.  By doing this, you provide better information, and you can create a web form with a tag that indicates interest in PNO events.  With this tag, you can send out a monthly reminder, specifically to people that have expressed an interest.  Perhaps, this list of individuals gets ‘Pre-registration’ privileges BEFORE you promote it to the rest of your contacts.

Use Themes

Each month, create a different fun theme.  Super Hero Night, Nerf Battle Games, etc.  Our friend, Adam Kifer offers some done for you theme kits to make it easy.  Check them out here:  https://www.levelupactionkits.com/.  In addition our friend Cat Zohar also offers AHHHHHMAZING member engagement events including super fun Parent’s Night productions.  Her site is: Keep in mind, your promotional material including email, Facebook banners and images, posters, etc should all keep the same look and feel to provide a consistent message that creates massive registrations and trust.

Make it Easy

The best way to make it easy to be involved with Parent’s Night Out is to let people register online.  Remember to send them to a landing page that gives them all the information they will need, and then a button or web form then passes them along to the purchase page.  The purchase page can even include a short video from a previous PNO as well as some testimonials from parents and kids.  Remember you’re not just promoting these events to members.  You can use Parent’s Night Out as a lead generator and a simple way to build relationships with families that aren’t yet interested in martial arts.  BUT, when they do have an interest, you will be at the top of their mind, and that will make ALL the difference.  Parent’s Night Out events is one of the most underutilized long term marketing devices for new members.  Do it right and they can help fill your school each and every month.

How much should you charge?

$20-30 price range for premium or paid events is the average pricing we see per ticket.  Some schools let siblings or friends come for free or a discounted fee such as half-off.  Other schools do this as a free event to provide a higher level of service.  Either one of these methods can and will create referrals when done with the right intent. PNO is an event offered in several ways.  You can charge for tickets.  You can give it away for free. You can even use it as a paid event that is free if you bring a friend.

Who should you Promote your Parent’s Night Out towards?

Members, family members, friends AND prospects.  It’s a well-needed service in all communities, and you will always be able to fill your roster, regardless of whether you do it as a premium or complimentary service.

How should I promote the event?

First, promote your events in every way possible.  Announcements, flyers, email, text messaging, Facebook pages, groups and more.  Inside of your promotions and emails direct people to your landing page or sales page that gives them all the details and a button to pay or register for the evening. Make sure it’s always on any event calendars that you publish in print or online.

  • Monthly or weekly newsletters
  • ‘3+Four Email Campaigns’
  • Facebook posts on your pages and groups

Activate your promotion devices 8-10 days before your registration deadline, which should be about 4 to 5 days BEFORE the day of the actual event.  By doing this, you increase the sense of urgency, and you allow for any cancellations to be filled instead of left open.

Yes, you can just send people directly to a Profit Generator or check-out page to let them register for your PNO, but it’s not the most efficient way to get maximum results. The same is true with Trial Campaigns, Birthday Parties, Merchandise and more.

We are creating landing page templates that you can use for all the different types of events you do throughout the year.  They are totally customizable.  To make it easy we have created a Trello Project board with an overview of how to use the template, a project checklist, resources requirements and recommendation as well as sample text that you can just copy and paste if you don’t want to use your own.

Evernote is a place to do a brain dump. It’s a place to save web pages. It’s a place to keep notes and ideas. It’s a place where you can tag and search all your notes (try that with your yellow pad!). You can even do voice dictation on your phone.
